I’m not a fan of deadlines
Tick-tock, tick-tock, the clock goes
slowly with no empathy
As a bride walking down the aisle.
I was just thinking, ‘how did this word start anywhere? It has uneasy connotations, dead…line‘
Checked out the English Oxford English Dictionary and Aha, here is the meaning
A line drawn around a prison beyond which prisoners were liable to be shot.
It is said prison guards would watch prisoners, from sentry boxes perched atop the stockade
That makes sense, that’s why I never liked the word
like what line is dead really?
Hence I ask the Lord to teach me to number my days.
For the time is moving
It ain’t waiting for anyone, as they say.
I don’t want to waste time
And I don’t want to be ‘shot’
Therefore, I want to use time wisely.
Also, I want to recognize opportunities when they knock at my door
And make hay while the sun still shines. Even the Lord Jesus said, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work” John 9:4. In other ways, we must quickly carry out the tasks assigned to us by the One who sent us.
Because I want to fulfill my destiny
reach out to those I need to
help those that can make use of my help
I want to be of purpose
run my race well Lord, help me stay in my lane
and to the best of my ability
The Lord giving me grace
favor with Him
and with men
For The Lord Jesus grew in stature
and in favor with God
and with men
A student is not above their teacher.
Therefore, I follow the footsteps of my Lord
By numbering my days.
